75 year D-Day Anniversary

It is the 75th anniversary of the D-Day invasion in Normandy France. This is a monumental occasion because this will most likely be the last special anniversary that is attended by the men that served during that invasion. Now, most are in their 90’s, with only 4% of those that served in WWII still alive. Did you know that there were 2,000 African American soldiers that served on the beaches in Normandy during that days long battle? Medics running through the waves to save wounded men; soldiers that climbing cliffs to capture the guns; and soldiers that died in the foam. Did you know that no African was given a medial of honor for their bravery when fellow white soldiers were because Jim Crowe segregation prevented this? It was determined, during the Clinton administration, to give five African Americans a medial of honor, only five out of 2,000. For my trolls out there who do not read my posts but like to say, “No money for reparations”, how about if we simply honor all our heroes in the same way instead of excluding men based on the color of their skin. It has been 75 years. While you can say no person alive today was a slave, we can say that there are people that served along side their brothers but did not get the same recognition because they are black. We can change that.
