Wow, a 20+ hour train trip. It isn’t as bad as one may think. However, I wasn’t keen on the standing still waiting for freight trains to go by. There seemed to be many hurry up and wait times to the point that we were an hour and a half late arriving in Birmingham. After getting the rent a car, we headed over to the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute. We had a meeting with Athena Shepherd who discussed what the institute is doing in various locations around Alabama. I will post pictures from our visit soon. It was amazing. Plus I found out that laws to remove the race restriction from bus riding were drafted on the day I was born. More to follow….
